His personality only needed small changes to fit the new setting, but his appearence didn't fit at all
Trying to stay up to date, maybe? Let's face it: new Dante's choice of clothing is way more fashionable than old Dante's.
If he's more fashionable can be up for questioning. I think he is, but I'm sure other people would much rather dress in origiDante's costume. But you have to admit that neoDante's design is more modern than origiDante's more flashy, flowing costume. It's fashion vs. function here.
When I saw the trailer at first I thought it was a standard youtube joke. With so many dislikes I thought it couldn't be valid and I didn't think of it as a DMC game, even though I was very fond of the first trailer and its music. I dislike the changes they made to "new" Dante's appearance over the course of trailers. And yeah I agree "new" Dante has more fashionable clothes (he even wears an undershirt).
If i wore a red leather jacket anywhere without an under shirt, i would probably get my ass kicked a lot more. If i wore what NeoDante is wearing, i think i would want to kick somebodies ass. Either way, someone's gettin their ass kicked!
This is a picture from a winters collection, 2010 I think. Cheap Monday's Tor Parka (one of the most wanted Parkas, as far as I've seen. It's been sold out for over a year now and still people keep asking about it) is basically the same thing Dante wears, together with skinnies and the under-shirt. Yes, it's my opinion, that Dante looks better now, but as you can see, there's a kind of consensus on that.
At first, my opinion fell in with that of the "Oh HEEEELL no" camp, but honestly, now I'm just utterly indifferent towards the entire thing. I do not think it is possible for me to care any less about DmC. I don't hate the idea of it, I don't like the idea of it, I feel nothing about it. I probably won't buy it, but if a friend does and I get the opportunity to borrow it, I won't pass up the chance to play it.

That's not entirely what I meant, if you had read the previous post. I think he looks better and there's a general consensus on what's fashionable and what is not.
hmm.. yep. I think i'll still get my ass kicked in a red leather coat and i would more than likely be getting laid in the Parka
